Amnesia Rockfest Preview – Montebello festival turns 10… my how you’ve grown!

Amnesia Rockfest 2015

Amnesia Rockfest is celebrating its 10th year and does not disappoint, with another can’t miss line-up. It all kicks off tonight in Montebello, Québec.

Rockfest has made some remarkable progress since it began in 2005, with unbelievable headliners and remarkable influences. At the beginning, it was just a young music lover’s dream, to bring the big stage to his home town, and founder Alex Martel (17-years-old at the time), has gone above and beyond expectations, with a successful music festival that sells out almost every year.

Line up

Booking headliners like System of a DownMarylin MansonLinkin Park, the now Tom Delonge-less Blink 182 before the founding member parted ways with the band, Lamb of GodAlice Cooper, to a recently broader span of non-rock artists, including Snoop Dogg and Cypress Hill are what makes Rockfest what it is.

It’s safe to say that the festival has come a very long way since its francophone days with petite-nation, when it was a single day event with less than ten acts. Going from that, to working with big names like Tim Armstrong of Rancid and The Transplants – who now curates alongside Martel – to create an unfathomable 3-day, jam packed, rock fan’s dream weekend, is something quite spectacular. It has become the highlight of the year for many festival goers and continues to have a line-up that has any attendee forced to make an itinerary and spend their day stage hopping, so that they can catch all of the outstanding acts.

Even since 2011, there has been noticeable progress in the size and popularity.

Not only has it made progress musically, but Martel, once solely a kid with a dream, has brought forth an amazing festival for other music lovers to attend, but he has also brought in something for the people of Montebello to make a little extra cash on and enjoy the experience of at their doorsteps.

While there is camping set up, sold and run by the event, there are also many people who welcome you onto their lawns to camp out and make new friends – right across from the main stages for a fee. Moreover, the convenience store stocks up with more beer than you could imagine fitting into such small stores and is sold out every year by the end of the weekend. That, as well as the local bars, shops and restaurants, profit from this immensely. Martel has given to the music world and to his home town in an extremely admirable way.

It’s is only a week away and is 98 per cent sold out, so get your tickets now and try not to feed the scalpers. You don’t want to end up driving all the way out there, spending forever in the backed up car pile to get into the small town, behind all of the other rowdy music lovers, getting all pumped up, just to be let down by ending up with a fake ticket.

Here’s this year’s again remarkable full line-up.

  1. My wife and i got excited Peter could do his homework from the precious recommendations he received while using the web page. It’s not at all simplistic to just continually be giving for free tricks which the others could have been trying to sell. We consider we have you to be grateful to because of that. The type of illustrations you made, the easy web site navigation, the friendships you can help to instill – it’s all fabulous, and it’s really making our son in addition to the family reckon that that theme is exciting, and that is particularly vital. Thank you for all!
